Planning a funeral can be a painful process. We are here to assist you in whatever way possible. The Catholic funeral liturgy is beautiful and life-affirming. We will help you plan it (and we require that the funeral planning sheet be filled out with the pastor and approved by him). It is important to speak with the pastor BEFORE setting the date for the funeral.
Because the Catholic funeral is a liturgy, we are bound by the requirements of the Catholic Church regarding what is and is not allowed. There is a specific format which can be found on the funeral planning sheet below (with a link to the scripture readings).
COSTS
Our Sunday collections do not begin to cover our operating expenses. We rely on additional contributions in order to pay our bills. To have your loved one's funeral at Saints Teresa and Bridget we request the following:
Church: 100 dollars with check made out to "Saints Teresa and Bridget"
Musician: 1oo dollars with check made out to musician (ordinarily Eugene Thomas)
STEPS TO FOLLOW IN HAVING A FUNERAL AT SAINTS TERESA AND BRIDGET
1) When a loved one dies, please contact the parish immediately to let us know. If a person doesn't answer live, please leave a message in the pastor's voicemail (ext. 21). When you speak with the pastor, a date and time for the funeral will be chosen. (Please do not schedule a funeral without speaking directly with the pastor.)
2) When you meet with the funeral director, he will contact the pastor to formally schedule the time for the funeral.
3) After scheduling the funeral, please make an appointment with the pastor to plan the service. Because this is a Catholic parish, there are certain things that are required for the service, and other things that are not allowed. Do not plan the service apart from the pastor and do not print up an order of worship until the outline of the service has been approved. by the pastor (including songs and readings). We will make sure that the funeral honors your loved one.
4) At the present time, we are not able to offer a funeral luncheon due to Covid-19 restrictions.
5) Until the restrictions have been lifted, all attendees must wear a mask.
6) In order to prepare for the meeting with the pastor, you can download the funeral planning sheet HERE . A link to all the scripture readings that can be used for a Catholic funeral can be found HERE.
